Morgan's Mardi Gras

Morgan's birthday is here already.  What to do.....what to do?  Well, first Steve and Helen took the kids to play Monster Golf which is done with laser lights.  They had a great time.  Then they came to our house for dinner and party. We decided to bring Mardi Gras to Morgan since she wouldn't be going to Mardi Gras. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the Mardi Gras table before we all sat down. Morgan walked in and immediately spied the pendant banners leading the way to the dining room. The table was all set with a purple cloth and yellow plates and cups.  She was thrilled.

Morgan and Cameron both got feather masks to wear.  Morgan also has one that she got in New Orleans on an RV trip through there two summers ago.

She didn't want to take the mask off so she wore it for the whole party except while she was eating her hamburger.  Then it was on to the presents.  She got a "secret" journal with a voice recorded password and disappearing ink.

And a kit to make rubber band bracelets which are all the rage with young girls these days.  The box is to hold all her supplies.

Harley was pretty interested in all the party antics too.

And the birthday cake was a "King Cake".  Morgan thought that was really neat.  No, she is not 5....I think that is how many candles Helen found at the last minute.

Everyone thought the "cake" was really good.  I had no idea they came in "flavors" but Morgan's was cinnamon.  It tasted like a really great coffee cake.

And you will never guess who found the "baby" in their piece of cake????  So I guess Miss Morgan will be having lots of luck.

Yes, we can definitely count this among the "successful" birthday parties and one Morgan won't forget.

The Birds???????

A quick trip to the grocery store left me feeling like I was in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" movie.

It's really kind of creepy but at least it's not any closer to my house.

Another Trip Through Six Flags

Christmas break with the grand kids is rolling to a close so we made another trip to Six Flags on Sunday. Steve, Helen, and Cameron are all up for the wild exciting rides.  Morgan and I, not so much. We did do the airplanes that fly around and go up and down. Some friends of Steve and Helen's were also there. Rachel is about Morgan's age so she and her Mom hit the planes with us. I suggested that we go in two separate planes so that each of the girls could be a pilot and it was definitely the right decision. Morgan loved being in charge of the "flight" and we went up and down a bunch of times.

Lisa and her daughter were in the "car" in front of us so each of the girls got to "drive", another hit.

The girls rode the teacups too but they didn't make theirs spin even once.....but they had fun anyway.

Scooby-do to you too.

I was disappointed that they didn't seem to have any of the regular shows going over Christmas break but we did get to see one with great carolers and another one with singers and dancers that were both really good.

And I think we rode the carousel at least three times, maybe four....but who is counting.  The park closes until March but I know the kids will be eager to go again.

Happy New Year from the The Traveling Longdogs

Happy New Years from the Traveling Longdogs.  New Years Eve day started out just great. Some longtime friends called and said they were on their way over.  And they were also bringing Owen to have a play date with Willy, Gretchen, and Harley.

Owen is Gretchen's brother which is hilarious because he is a very big dachsie and Gretchen is a petite little girl.  Harley and Owen had a ball tousling with each other.  Willy got in a few moves but he is more of a "watcher" these days.

Gretchen steps into the fray only if she thinks that the boys are getting too rambunctious.  You have no trouble knowing that she is telling them to behave themselves when she steps in.

The humans went out for lunch and had a great visit.  The dachsies had a great visit too.

I have to show you the adorable cookies that Loretta brought over.  They are called "Melting Snowmen"......so adorable!  Good thing I took a picture before the Grandkids came over because they thought they were fantastic so they didn't last long. This is the only "snow" I want to see all winter!

Happy New Year to all of you and may the year bring you only good times and good health!
