Wimberley, TX Market Days

In a previous post, my friend Nancy and I visited Wimberley but today we were going there for the Market Day.  I picked up Nancy's sister-in-law, Teresa, who lives near me at 8 AM and we set out for Potter's Creek to pick up Nancy.  You can also go to Wimberley by going through San Marcos but we wanted to go together and you can go cross country to Wimberley from Canyon Lake.

Wimberley Market Days are held the 1st Saturday of every month from March through December.  It is a huge Texas trade days event second only to Canton.  Entry is free but there is a charge for parking, either $3 or $5 depending on the lot you pick.  As I said, it is huge.  There are about 475 booths set out in a fairly shady area with paths meandering through.  There are several entrances so you will definitely want to get a map of the event so you can find your way around.  We arrived at 0930, found a good place to park and set off.

There is a ton of stuff to see.  The crowds were not bad when we arrived but got heavier as the day wore on.  It was never too bad though as there is so much to see.

It was close to lunch time when Nancy and Teresa spotted "bratwurst with sauerkraut at one of the food booths.  I think the Lions Club does all the food booths and you can find them scattered here and there.  I opted to wait on something without the kraut and picked up a corn dog a short while later.

Back to the booths.  You will find everything from soup to nuts during market day.  A short sampling of the booths follows.

These are some pretty fancy kites.

We had a great day but we were definitely ready to sit down in the car when we left at 2:30 PM.  We each bought at least one item but nobody got carried away this time.  I can't wait to make another visit.  We headed back to Potter's Creek to drop Nancy off and then headed back home.  Another great visit to a local site.

  1. What - nothing for the longdogs? It's hard to go to these places and not come home with tons us stuff that you don't have any room for.
