Camping Out Any Way We Can Get It

We really wanted to take the grandkids camping over Spring Break but iffy weather with projected rain and state parks full of Springbreakers kind of foiled that idea.  So we did day trips and had lots of fun but...the kids still had their own ideas about camping out so.....

So a few dining room chairs, some clamps from the garage, a queen-size sheet, and an air mattress.....

Harley was on-board with the idea from the get-go while Gretchen was not really so sure about it all...she kept going over to her crate when she was ready to go to bed but eventually she decided not to miss out on the fun.

Willy was also checking out all his options.  If he didn't have to sleep in his crate, he wanted to get the best spot but he still hadn't decided what the best spot was going to be.

Their Dad slept on the blue couch to the right so Willy ultimately decided that was the very best spot.

And they all even got some sleep!

  1. Great fort for home-bound camping out.

  2. Brings back those memories of my son's forts and our beagle, Ginger, hogging the bed. Not sure what our girls would think of it now. They really like the comfort and warmth of the bed.

  3. Brings back memories of when our kids were small. I'm sure the longdogs also had a ball.

    1. The longdogs always have a ball as long as their people are around. They love having the grandkids comes and go crazy when son Steve arrives even though they all arrived long after he left home.

  4. The air mattress looks exactly like the one I bought today. They are surprisingly comfortable.

    1. I agree. The sofa with the airbed in my RV is so much more comfortable than a jacknife sofa. The only things you need to remember is that they do lose a little air when they are up for several days and, you need to put some sort of a blanket or pad on them in the winter or you will feel the cold under you. Learned that from sleeping on a friends sofa airbed in her RV.

  6. Oh you guys are great! What fun for the kids. We used to do that when we were kids, but in our bedrooms. I think maybe it drove my Mom crazy, not sure ;-)
The longdogs will expect this every night now you know....

    1. Oh, how quickly they grow to expect things but it won't be happening again for a while.

  7. Can't decide which kids are having the most fun, the human ones or the fur ones!!! Great idea.

  8. Oh wow that looks like fun! I'm positively kicking myself for not thinking of it when I was a kid, but then I do get a few points for making a canopy bed by suspending a tablecloth over my mattress.
