Our next adventure was a lesson in geocaching by Birdie. She explained all the how-to's, the geocaching website , told about some of the geocaching adventures she had in Alaska this summer, and then we were off to find two geocaches in the park. Birdie, Carolyn, Dawn, Karen, and I set out to find the hidden treasures. The first one involved some scrambling around on the hillside but we found it. Birdie also added a traveling charm that she found in a cache in Alaska that asked to be moved to a warmer climate. The second cache involved a hike across some long grass to a wooded area. Dawn and Birdie persevered and found that cache as well. It was a fun adventure. I think Dawn is definitely a new geocacher in the making. Carolyn and I will try it again too.
Birdie's SIL, Theresa, came out to join us Friday afternoon and got in some kayaking. Although Chris (Redwahine) wanted to kayak as well, she and DH Larry were off touring the Wildlife Ranch while the kayaking was going on. Next time Chris. The water is still down at Canyon Lake but it has come up several feet from where it was earlier in the year.
Now, you better come hungry to Cooper's. The first thing you will see when you walk in is the big pit with meat cooking. We were there for the $23.99 Steak Special. Now for you non-Texans, that is a full 16 oz rib eye steak, baked potato, beans, and all the fixings you want. Carolyn and I split a steak and got an extra baked potato but the potatoes were so big, one would probably have been plenty. Some of the other ladies did this as well. Carole is checking out her choices below.
As you can see in the pictures below, we had a big crowd but they have plenty of tables for guests at Coopers. Everyone was having a great time but you'll have to take my word on the food as I didn't get any separate pictures of it. It was great. Margareta was raving about her baked potato. They were oiled and then peppered on the skin before baking. Scrumptious. The steak also had a lot of pepper on it but it was melt in your mouth good.
Needless to say, we were all stuffed when we left but we didn't miss out on our gathering that evening anyway.
That sure sounds like my kind of dinner.
