Beachside Galveston Island

Steve and Helen drove to Brownwood to pick up the kids on Saturday. Morgan had a dance recital that night so they didn't get to head home until late and arrived at home very late. In the meantime, the longdogs and I took Angus home in the truck pulling the 5th wheel about 10PM. After he went to bed in his crate, we headed out to the RV to bed so we wouldn't waste any time in the morning. Once Steve and Helen were up, we loaded their stuff in the RV and head east towards Houston and then south to Galveston Island. We were a little concerned about rain and flooding but we were okay in both areas. It spit at us a few times but nothing serious.

Crossing the bridge to the Island.....

Welcome to the Island.....

We arrived at Jamaica Beach RV Resort about 4:00PM and got set up in our site. The pads are concrete but the grassy areas between the sites were flooded. Steve had to wade to do the hookups. Today they came by with a pump and started pumping the water out. We headed over to the beach this morning. Cars can access the beach but there are designated areas where they can go. They can't just drive along the whole beach area here. We walked over from the RV Resort.

The sun was shining and there was a great breeze to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

You can see a few of the "small" beach cottages in the background.

Nice little McMansion on our part of the beach.

Looks like it is going to be a great week.

  1. Glad the rain wasn't an issue. Looks like you found some areas of the beach where there aren't so many people too. Good for you! Have fun.
