Helotes Cornyval and Highland Games

On this weekend, Cameron was supposed to have a big soccer tournament which meant a lot to him so Morgan got to have a weekend all to herself here in San Antonio. We went to Helotes to the Cornyval which is a version of highland games.

There were lots of dancing demonstrations by various groups.

They were all very good.

There were lots of pipe, drum, and bagpipe music. It was very good also. This was the first time I have heard bagpipes being played where the music was upbeat and cheerful rather than sad.

Morgan had her face painted.

Then there were the sport events.

It is not easy throwing these heavy weights.

We also saw a presentation of all the weapons used so long ago.

 

All in all, it was a very interesting day for all of us. Unfortunately for Cameron, his game was cancelled at the last minute so he missed a weekend with his Dad for nothing.
