Albuquerque NM Petrogliph National Monument

Since we had such a short drive from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, we managed to get our first sightseeing trip in the same day. Petroglyph National Monument is actually located within the outskirts of Albuquerque and there are about five different sites.

The first place you want to go is the Visitor's Center.

Desert landscaping around the Visitor's Center.

Somehow we missed an actual picture of the Visitor's Center but it was nice. In addition to historical information and a movie, they also had a gift shop.

Next stop was Rinconada Canyon.

Each place with the exception of the Visitor's Center has a trail. The distance you have to hike to see the petroglyphs varies.

It was interesting but be sure you pick a cooler day as it gets pretty hot hiking to look at rocks.

Our next adventure was going to be Coronado National Monument. It was a lot longer ride than we thought it would be according to the map. But the real bad news is that we picked the one day a week that it was closed.
