2024-04-27 Jack Sizemore RV Museum, Amarillo TX

Elaine and I set out to see the Jack Sizemore RV museum. It's not as large as the RV museum in Elkhart Indiana but it's a great museum and it is free. The last time I visited, it was located behind Camping World RV dealer. Jack originally owned that RV dealership before he sold to Camping World. The museum is now located just south of Amarillo.

The displays are not quite as good in this building as they were originally set up along a path like you were wandering around an RV park but the rVs are all there.

Remember the movie "RV" with Robin Williams? Recognize this RV?

This is the actual RV used by the "Gurnicke" family.

This is the inside of the bus.

Jack ran a gas station and fixed up an trailer for camping. One followed another and he had a rental RV business. The collection of RVs grew and eventually the RV museum came into being.

RVs with outside cooking areas have long been popular.

The older trailers had real wood cabinets and many modern conveniences.

There was a nice display of camping items from over the years.

Some RVs are more aerodynamic than others.

RVs come in all sizes.

You can even build your own RV.

The RV museum shares space with motorcycles from over the years. Definitely something for everyone to see.

We saw this old Briscoe county jailhouse on our way to the museum and stopped to get a photo on the way back to the park.
