After we toured the Market Days and visited at the pub, Carolyn saw a notice for a Pow Wow. I wasn't all that enthused but we tracked down the location.
I was very glad we went. It was a small gathering inside a small community center but it was a very nice event. The costumes were beautiful and unique to each dancer.
Sittting down in full regalia is an art!
There were young to elderly dancers.
The dancer on the right in red, orange, and yellow. is a grass dancer. The announcer explained that modern dancers use yarn rather than grass for their outfits.
Most of the dancers were men but there were a few women. Every dancer had their own style.
The drummers were in the middle next to the pole and the dancers moved in a circle around them.
All in all, it was a beautiful event and we felt very welcome watching the dancers.
