We made another day trip while we were at Caprock Canyon State Park. Palo Duro Canyon State Park was about an hour and a half away.
Palo Duro and Caprock Canyon are at different ends of the same canyon but the parks are different.
Palo Duro has many more camping spots spread across a number of different campgrounds.
There are lots of hiking trails, horse riding rentals, a gift shop with a restaurant, and the famous play "Texas" which is performed outside June through August. It's a definite must see.
Palo Duro also has some little camping cabins that even have A/C.
The views are great.
I love Palo Duro but think I like camping at Caprock better. The camping sites have more shade and are generally more private. I also think the view of the canyon walls are more colorful and vivid than Palo Duro. Plus Caprock has the bison herd as well as the prairie dogs.
