2024-6-10 Texas Ramblin' Roses Brady TX Rally

I've written the other posts about what we did during the Texas Ramblin' Roses in Brady. This is about the park and what we did here during the rally. Most of us stayed at the Heart of Texas RV Park. It's a small park but the owner did everything she could to accommodate us. She took over a very run down park not so ong ago and is making changes and upgrades as quickly as she can.

Problem tenants and dangerous rundown RVs were moved out. Plants and shrubs were added to make little garden areas.

There are currently 4 pull-throughs.

My sister-in-law elaine's site was not a pull-through but some quick changes were made to allow her to pull in since the back in angle was not good. That could lead to a permanent change for the future. A problem with the electric popped up but the owner quickly hooked up temporary power while the problem was worked out. A smaller RV was shifted to a different spot to alleviate the problem.

One of our members has this beautiful airstream which fit nicely into one of the pull-throughs.

Each of our sites had our name and site number to show where we were, a very thoughtful touch.

I had a great site although if winds or storms would have developed, I would quickly have moved out from under those big trees. No, Harley did not have his own trailer. After all, he already has a motorhome which I drive for him, lol.

I had lots of shade.

I don't know how I lucked out with this site but I shared the shade with anyone who wanted to bring over a chair.

The park even has a garden with vegetables growing.

A mobile home was converted into a community center or a rally rom in our case. It comes complete with large TV, microwave, refrigerator. coffee pots, tables in three rooms, bathroom and laundry machines. Some serious excitement going on here from the winner.

I'm sire of this was serious discussion or a game of Left, Right, Center.

Lots of games of Left, Right, Center, Mexican Train, Rumikub, and a card game called 31 (I think) were played. We also had pizza on Saturday night along with lots of sides from everyone.

It was quite warm (hot for any other state). Some of our ladies went to the lake to kayak or swim. A few stayed at the city campground there. Others including Elaine and I even managed to find the city swimming pool which had an adults only swimming hour at 6. A woman in the quilt shop we visited told us about it. We went and it was the 5 of us plus the quilt shop lady. we each had our own lifeguard, lol. It was great. The pool is only 4 1/2 feet deep so the lifeguards got to take a break for a toss the ball game. I doubt this was the normal crowd but they had a little "incident" earlier in the day so the pool was closed to run all the water through the system. It opened just in time for the adult swim. How great was that.

It was a great rally hosted by Vickie and Barbara Albright for about 19 women in a new location with a surprising amount of things to do and some good restaurants in a small town.
