Harley takes his role as navigator seriously!

2025-6-28 Heritage Hall Museum, Coleman TX

Coleman's museum is only open one day of the week which happens to be Saturday so that is what we had on our agenda for Saturday. It is housed in an old churck.

In the old sanctuary part, there are seats and a movie with scenes from Coleman years ago is playing. You can head out through the other rooms from there.

This guy occupied the hallway.

In the next room, all these models of town buildings were displayed. The detail was amazing.

There is an exhibit dedicated to Shilo Harris who came from Coleman. He was severely injured on his second tour to Iraq in 2007 and was burned over 30% of his body. He was in a medically induced coma for 48 days and spent three years at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio for recovery and physical therapy. He was medically retired from the Army in 2010 and is now a motivational speaker raising awareness for wounded veterans. You have probably seen him on TV.

There are many other military displays.

In addition, there are other miscellaneous displays.

There is a whole section on toys of all types.

If you head upstairs, you will see an absolutely amazing display of arrowheads from around the world. They are all carefully displayed and cataloged.

There is also a room set aside for Dean Beard who was also a Coleman native big in the music world.

He is pictured here with a young Elvis Presley.

There are some paintings on display as well. I had to take a picture of this painting because I knew I had seen the house driving through Coleman. I checked it out and I was right. The house is currently for sale but it could certainly use a little TLC these days for a better sale.

The museum is not huge but, like Colemen itself, it is a work in process. It's worth a visit and looks like plans for much more are in the works.
