Sunday we decided to head over to Brownwood to check out Lake Brownwood State Park.
I've never been there before and I've heard both good and negative things about it.We pulled into the first campground and saw this nice pavilion across from the bathroom. The first campground was full hookup with sites in a circle. Park is definitely older with shorter sites. Some shade but not a lot as it is mostly mesquite trees. Have to say the bathroom was great. It must have been a lot newer than other facilities.
This was the swimming area which is a drive from any campgrounds. No real beach. My grandson told me he got bitten by a poisonous caterpillar here.
This was one of the old CCC buildings. It was really beautiful inside and out. They rent it out for events.
That was pretty much all the pictures I took. They had some nice cabins but none had beach access. As a park, it was okay. Sites are small and shade is very limited. I am much happier with the Hords Creek COE park where we are staying but I'm not saying I wouldn't stay there but only in cool weather.
