Spaceship House, 66 Diner, and the Candy Lady in Old Town Albuquerque

The Spaceship House is a private residence designed by Bart Prince, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. We found it in our research for things to see and decided to try to find it. On the way back from another sightseeing trip we located it without much trouble.

It has unique sculptures as well.

The neighboring house was pretty unique too.

Our next goal was to find a bunch of murals on downtown buildings that were famous but before we got that far, we spotted this diner.

Route 66 all the way.

It is actually called the Route 66 Diner.....one of many along old Route 66 I am sure.

The inside was definitely old school décor and colors.

Carolyn could hardly sit down long enough to order because she was so excited taking pictures inside.

It was actually pretty large with several different rooms. See all the big Pez dispensers along the ceiling area?

All three of us ordered the daily special.

We didn't find the murals but we found a couple of other interesting sites.

Our next destination on the way back to the RV park was Old Town Albuquerque which is located, where else, but right along old Route 66. Beautiful Church.

Obviously the buildings are all old.

The whole area is just a few square blocks so easy to walk around once you park.

Believe it or not, the Candy Lady is very famous. She has been around making delicious candy for 30 years.

She makes almost all of the candy and it is all delicious.  You can't go wrong with the chocolates but I really have to recommend her homemade licorice candy. I picked out a few different chocolate pieces, okay, more than a few, even though I really wanted to try the licorice. She threw in a piece of the homemade licorice which was the consistency of carmel. Good thing I didn't have time to go back or I would have and bought more of the licorice.

Believe it or not, there is an X-rated room full of candies.

Now, I am not very familiar at all with the TV show called "Breaking Bad" but apparently the Candy Lady has a connection to this. The licorice in the bag on the left is not what I was talking about.

We never actually saw the owner of this pedi-cab but it looked interesting.
