2025-9-19 ABQ Trolley and Old Town Albuquerque TRR RR Stop 4

Saturday morning a few of our group left to head to Farmington for some extra tours they booked through the RVW Convention but most of us headed to Old Town Albuquerque where we took a tour with the ABQ Trolley Co.

Boarding the trolley was a little more challenging than normal due to a big car show causing numerous roads in Old Town to be blocked but we all made it there on time. It was an open air vehicle but that was great because the weather was beautiful. Our guide was good and had lots of stories to tell about the sites we were seeing on the tour.

You probably don't recognize this house even if you are a big fan of the movie Wild Hogs. It was the house where Tim Allen's character in the movie lived in Cincinnati. Yup, it was actually filmed here in Albuquerque.

We were treated to a few video clips of films that were filmed in Albuquerque. It is apparently a huge movie location place.

This house was used in another movie whose name I can't remember.

Another location famous on Route 66.

This was pretty cute. At night the sausage link light up one after another so it looks like the "hot dog" is eating the hot dogs. Sorry dachsund babies, I couldn't resist.

Live entertainment along the route.

There is apparently more than one type build of adobe structure.

We saw some beautiful murals along the route we traveled.

This place a huge place where movie and theater builds and props are stored.

This is the Turquoise Museum which closed in August of this year.

There were some unique architectural sites along the way in addition to the murals.

250th Anniversary posters.

Interesting church tower.

Our guide told us that his family once came and stood with these statues for a picture which they told everyone was a family portrait.

The famous UFO house.

After the trolley tour, we headed back into Old Town for lunch.

We ate at the Church Street Cafe which is locate right next to the historic San Felipe de Neri Church. It is housed in Casa de Ruiz widely documented as the oldest residence in the city dating back to 1706.

The food was good and the setting beautiful.

Shops in Old Town.

We spent some more time looking around Old Town and ran in to the car show.

There were lots of people relaxing in parklike areas.

We saw lots of unique vehicles on display.

All in all, it was a great day in Old Town and around town on the trolley.
