Rolling into Jackson Hole

We headed out of Steamboat Springs towards Rock Springs WY which was our goal for the night.

It was getting dark when we rolled in to the local Motel 6 where we found a decent room with clean beds and a welcome for pets.

Saturday morning we were on our way to the Jackson Hole area. Along the way, we went under a number of these bridges.

They are actually built for animals to cross over the highway so they are covered in grass and often even have trees growing on them.

We passed fields and forests.

And mountains......

And lots of rivers and streams.

We pulled in here and turned around.......

so we could get down to the river and see the rafters. These folks were just packing out.

While others were unloading and heading out on an adventure.

Next stop, Jackson WY. A lot of people refer to the town as Jackson Hole but that actually refers to the whole valley.

It seemed like every town we went through had beautiful baskets or planters with flowers everywhere.

The town square has an arch made of discarded antlers at each corner and they are a very popular place to have your picture taken.

In the middle of the square, there is a beautiful green park.

When we arrived, there was a farmers market in progress around the park.

Yes, this is the direction we will take out of town,.

But first a quick look around to stretch our legs.

We stopped at this deli and picked up some great sandwiches.

One last picture symbolic of Jackson and we headed out on our way to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
