Back at Potter's Creek

I pulled out of Wichita Falls about lunchtime on Saturday after mailing a couple of Halloween cards to the grandchildren and dumping the tanks.  I planned to take my time traveling down the road and boon dock somewhere along the way.  We made a couple of rest area stops so the dachsies could have a little walk.  Thought about stopping in Marble Falls but it was a bit too early for supper.  We finally stopped in Round Mountain.  Round Mountain is a rather unique place because the "main street" is actually a truck stop with an attached restaurant, a cattle auction place, volunteer fire department, and a bank.  The area behind the truck stop and restaurant is a large blacktopped parking area.  After getting the okay to stay the night, I headed into the restaurant for a quick bite.  The Real New Orleans restaurant had authentic New Orleans food but I bypassed that in favor of a hamburger.  It smelled delicious but I just wasn't up for something spicy.  Have to say the hamburger was home style and fantastic.  It was a bit windy but we all had a good sleep after checking out all the corners of the parking lot.  Two trucks pulled in for the night but didn't bother us a bit.

The next morning I was up and headed out early.  I arrived back at Potter's Creek about 9:30.  Nancy was off to the grocery store early so I just pulled off the main road and took the dogs for a walk until she returned.  We didn't have much of a wait and then she was there to be my spotter when I backed in.  This is my spot looking out over the lake.
A closer view of what I could see out my large back window.
A view looking out my door towards the road.
Nancy was parked just up the road on the other side.
The next two pictures are of Willy watching the deer out the screen door.  He was fascinated and at one point, he and one of the deer were only about four feet apart just looking at each other.  My dogs are not always angels but they didn't bark at either the deer or the geese roaming around the park.  Another dog is another story depending on how feisty they are all feeling.

For those of you who don't ever cook in your RV, you are missing out on a great experience.  Nancy and I were enjoying White Chicken Chili and a glass of wine.

This is breakfast.  Waffles with fruit and a great cup of Taste of San Antonio coffee.  We each brought part of the meal and cooked in my RV.

It was another great time.  Lots of really nice walks around the camping areas.  The dachsies really enjoy that part.  We also took a little sight seeing trip but I'll save that for another blog.  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Traveling with our girls definitely means stopping frequently in order for them to smell every rock and bush. What a beautiful campsite you're in. And a friend parked near by to share good food with. Perfect.

  2. I can't imagine never cooking in my RV. I generally prefer my own cooking to eating out. :)
