The Longdogs

The Longdogs
Gretchen, Willy, and Harley have all taken their roles as navigator seriously! Now it's Xena's turn with guidance from her role models.

2026-9-28 Back in Albuquerque NM

We spent a few days back at Enchanted Trails RV Park where we did exciting things like laundry and playing games. We saw some beautiful sunsets and some rain.

We went back to the 66 Diner and cashed in on our free milkshake. Go back and read my earlier post if you don't know what that is. They are incredibly good and huge as long as you order for in the restaurant. You can get a takeout glass if you can't finish it.

We spent some time at Discount Tire because Jimmie thought she had a screw in her tire but it turned out just to be stuck in the tread. Anne didn't get away so cheaply. she had a leak the morning we left for Roswell which necessitated 4 new tires.

We had lunch at another Mexican restaurant whose name escapes me. No matter, we would not go back unless it was just to get their sopapillas which were good. Then we hit up a thrift store and a Walmart. We filled up our gas tanks at Maverick which had a better set-up for RVs than Pilot. Love's on the west side is horrible for RVs.

Just some downtime when the weather wasn't that great and we needed to chill.

2026-9-26 Around McGee Park, Farmington NM

Before we leave McGee Park and Fairgrounds, a few pics.

The Roses Row. I'm hidden behind Frankie and Emma's big rig on the right.

My neighbor Sharon's rig.

Xena was gifted a jacket which she was very happy to wear. I got a bit chilly for a Texas Dachsie.

Roses decorating the Glow Parade entry in back. Peanut is not sure she wants to be part of the audience.

Xena knows that is Jimmie's chair and Jimmie carries "Cookies".  She is sporting her brand new New Mexican collar.

Elaine and I are on this end of the row.

That is it for our week at the RVW Convention in Farmington NM. Sunday we head back to Albuquerque for a few days on the way home.

2026-9-26 RVW Convention

Some started their convention week early with a train ride from Durango to Silverton.

I think they had a very good time.

There was a room with vendors selling their wares all week.

And there were seminars from soup to nuts....well not really but a diverse group from vendor provided to RVW member speakers.

I have to say that my two favorites were Yvonne Johnson with Snapshots to Stunning: Easy Travel Photo Tips, and Using the RVW Website with Jan Miller. Cecile Galt gave several great presentations as well. Ashy ONeill gave a vendor presentation towing like a pro that I enjoyed even though I have a motorhome. I was conflicted a few times and missed Betty Grant doing a vendor presentation of Essential Tools and Resources as well a Debra Tatacs Dutch Oven Cooking.

There was a popular solar presentation with a big push on lithium batteries.

There were also some craft type classes like Scrappy Quilt, Kinusaiga, and Poetry to Everyone.

There was also a Remembrance Ceremony for those members that passed this year. Nancy carried a Rose for Lynn and Jimmie carried a Rose for Cindy. Other attendees stepped up to carry a Rose if a chapter didn't have someone there to do it.

We had a good Mexican dinner one night prepared by RVW members as well as some good breakfasts also prepared by members.

We had a very good speaker whose grandfather was one of the Navajo Code Talkers from World War II. She gave an interesting talk and also presented some books she has written for kids.

The RVW Directors presented a skit. We also had a fantastic catered prime rib dinner.

There was a  two women singing group the last night. Prior to that, the texas Ramblin' Roses had a potluck which we moved to the covered picnic area due to weather.

This is just a small smattering of what went on at the convention and just a few pictures. After all, I was busy too.

2026-9-23 Glow Parade

Grand Marshalls of the Glow Parade, Jan Miller and Linda Brown, two women who were recognized for their longtime membership and huge contributions to the RVW organization.

These pictures aren't the greatest since they were taken at night but enjoy what you can.

Golf carts above and bicycles below.

Even a woman and her dog glowed.

Thanks to Teresa Johnson who was in charge of the golf carts, Texas Ramblin' Roses had an entry.

Only a few could go with the golf cart so the rest of us cheered the parade from the sidelines. Anne even turned on her bubble machine when they drove past it. That didn't last long as the dog part of the audience were not happy with the bubbles coming at them.

The Glow parade is fun and it raises money for RVW.

2026-9-22 Trip to Aztec National Monument

The RVW Convention doesn't officially start until tonight so Elaine, Anne, Cheryl, and I decided to go to Aztec to see the ruins. It's only less than an hour away.

The visit starts with the museum area where there is lots of info as well as a gift shop.

This is a very ancient place.

This area is important to many different tribes.

Now to the outdoor area and the actual ruins.

Obviously a recreation but very realistic.

Inside the recreation seems very authentic. There are several levels but this is the interior lower part. All those smaller openings you saw in the earlier picture from outside and what you can see here let in light and were probably like the original entrances.

This structure is mostly underground and would have had a domed top with entrance down a ladder.

One room leads into another room with very low entrances in between. The people were shorter but lower entrances also meant that enemies had to bend over as they tried to come in.

Limbo anyone?

Cheryl went all the way up to the top even after we halfway crawled through the inner rooms....one way in and one way out so no choice but to press on.

It was getting a little warm for the rest of us.

We went into the town of Aztec and saw this beautiful mural.

We went the 550 Pizzeria restaurant for lunch. The rest of us ordered pizza but Cheryl order half a meatball sub which had two gigantic meatballs.

It was a fun adventure.
