The Longdogs

The Longdogs
Harley takes his role as navigator seriously!

A Roller Coaster Ride on the Polar Vortex

This winter's weather has been just ridiculous.  I don't want to see ice on the grass.....

or ice on the tree branches here in south central Texas.  I expected some of it when we lived in Wichita Falls TX......expected I said, not liked but I really don't like it here.  And we just aren't used to the dreary days either.  I have to admit it......I stayed in my PJs all day one day last week in protest.

Then we would get a sunny day and the traveling longdogs would sunbathe indoors because it was to chilly to sunbathe outdoors.

So cold for a few days then back to sun and nice warm temps in the 70s.  Harley took advantage of that to nap outside in the sun.

Now Harley will play ball in almost any weather but he prefers sun and warmth.  On cold days, he wants to go play so bad but after two or three tosses, he zooms right past you into the house with his ball.

December was colder than normal this year and we have had three dives into cold weather in January.  February.....I am expecting a lot more out of you!  I checked the weather for the next 10 days and it is 70s then 50s then 70s then 50s.  Today and yesterday it was 79 and sunny.  We are getting motion sickness from all the ups and downs.  Of course, I definitely don't want to stay with the downs.

The last couple of days have been significantly brightened by the visit from a full-timer friend Birdie.  She zipped up here in her car on Thursday to take care of some business and then zipped back to the valley today but we had fun while she was here.

The sun disappeared again and I'm afraid she may have taken it back to the valley with her.

And just in case anyone is tempted to tell me that Florida is in better shape or Arizona is in better shape....I can see the map and the blog postings of people in both locations with jackets on or dealing with rain or worse.  This has been a rough winter for all the southern states.  And the northern states have it much worse but at least they are prepared for it.

Come on Spring!

  2. I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with those cold temps. It's bad enough to be in the 40's in the am. Lately it has been in the 50's overnight.
It will soon be Spring!, YEA!

  3. We really had beautiful weather in Yuma and Q while we were there but it's only in the 60's all this next week. I keep telling myself it is winter but that doesn't mean we have to like it. At least the girls have had lots of sunshine to bask in.

  4. Two snow/ice storms in one week is a record for us. Thankfully, we had snow last week and sleet this week. No freezing rain. Love those Doxey pics....

  6. We're getting another 4-6 inches of the white stuff up here in NJ tonight/tomorrow. I'm just waiting for April . . . :)

  8. Those poor little fur babies, how they must be suffering. I love the way they cuddle to keep warm.

You just might have to bering your rig down here to Mazatlan where we are warm and happy.
