Morning Coffee
My friend Carolyn Patin is in the Piney Ridge campground here at Bastrop State Park and the recumbent trike on the left is how she arrived down at my campground this morning. It's a couple miles around on the park road with several significant hills.
We used my car to take a drive around the park since this is Carolyn's first time here. I should also mention that she took all these pictures (and many, many more).
Last time I was here, they were working on these cabins built during the CCC era. Some of them needed new roofs, etc. They are large cabins and very beautiful. Only one was in use.
Next we took another park road back around past the lake and ended up at the lookout just past the Copperas Campground I am in. It's a beautiful place to watch the sunset.
Our next stop was to head to downtown Bastrop. Bastrop has all the big box kind of things you might want out on hwy 21 but downtown Bastrop retains it's small town atmosphere.
Unique name for this business.
There are lots of unique statues all around Bastrop but especially in the downtown area.
Our next stop was at the Bastrop Visitor's Center which also happens to be the museum.
This was a special exhibit. This room changes with whatever is current.
Bastrop has been around for a long time so there is a lot to see here.
There is a lot to see at the museum so I definitely recommend a trip through it when you go to Bastrop.
Next we went behind Main St where the museum is located. It overlooks a beautiful park ne=xt to the river.
