2026-10-18 Texas Ramblin' Roses Bastrop Rally - Sunday

Sunday we all drove over to Giddings TX to the Santa Fe Steakhouse. Teri knows all the best places because she lived in this general area before she went full time in her RV.

Some of us have been here on a previous rally. Sunday is the best day to come but get there early.  They serve prime rib other days of the week but on Sunday, it's the special! And it is indeed very special.

We were there right after they opened at 11:30am.

This is Carolyn's plate. Unlike most of us, she ordered the vegetable medley instead of some kind of potatoes. You also got a trip to a very good salad bar or an individual ceasar salad if you preferred. Almost all of us ordered the prime rib although one ordered shrimp and she got a huge plateful of large breaded shrimp. The homemade rolls were also fantastic served with honey butter.

The decor is very western as you would have guessed.

Carolyn took the pictures so not really sure if this was decor or actual patrons hats which would not be at all surprising.

I think there was some ladder ball played that afternoon.

Along with a few other games.

Later in the day, we all gathered at the rally area again. Yes, it was cool unlike the first few days I was there or the days to come.

2025-10-17 Texas Ramblin' Roses Bastrop Rally - Saturday

Saturday morning started about 8:30am with coffee.

Next was biscuits with sausage gravy by Elaine. I baked half the biscuits in my convection oven and she did the other half in her Air Fryer. Both turned out great.

As you can see, it was cool (cold by my standards).

Breakfast was great.

After breakfast, there were a few announcements.

Then everyone got in place for a presentation by Ashley O'Neill. She also gave a presentation at the recent RVW Convention. She is an expert on everything that is under your trailer. Even those of us with motorhomes learned a thing or two. There were lots of questions and she handled all of them.

After her presentation, most of us moved down to Jimmie's rig where she removed the tires and checked out the under carriage as well as checking and lubricating the bearings.

Ashley and Kate did a wonderful job and several other women had them come and check out their trailers and similar work.

After that, quite a few of us headed over to Frontier cellars, a new winery about 20 miles away.

They are still working on the property, roads, and signage because they have only been open about 5 months.

Lots of decor inside to check out.

Teri had ordered some Charcuterie appetizers before they arrived.

This was probably the favorite wine but they really didn't have any sweet wines.

I ordered two trays of flatbread pizza which was homemade and delicious.

Most everyone headed outside to listen to the musician. I was still inside waiting on Anne who arrived later and was still tasting wine and charcuterie. Next thing I looked out the window and what did I see....

Carolyn grabbed some unsuspecting young man from his table to dance with her "because it was her favorite song".
He learned to dance "cajun style" real quick and probably went home with a great story. Cajuns are very friendly.

Later that day, there were games to be played.

It was a fun day but then it's a rally so what else would you expect.
