Get'away Gals Trailer Tour

The Get'away Gals opened their hearts and their trailers to the public Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for donations to benefit the Wounded Warrior program at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Lots of people stopped by the Lazy L & L RV Park to check them out.  Ladies, please let me know if I make any mistakes in identifying your beautiful little home away from home.

Special story:  Jannie is a GG and wanted to bring her DIL so she could enjoy too.  Tried to get a cabin, just didn't work.  Rented an RV, arrived and in an hour had made a rented RV "their own" complete with decorations and Margarita Cupcakes for guests.

A few of the ladies were not at their RVs when they were open so I wasn't able to get every name.  And, if I missed your RV, I'm so sorry.  There were many more RVs at the GTG but not everyone decorated.  All the little vintage trailers are really cute but it was impressive how some of the newer RVs were very personalized and so neat too.  Gave me lots of ideas.  Hope you all enjoyed the tour.

  1. Oh wow!! I had no idea about this group, just lovely and thanks so much for putting all the great photos on your blog. I have to say that i loved the chandelier in that one trailer.

    1. Several had chandeliers, one was a shadow one and one or two were real. I only took one shot inside of each so couldn't get everything. So much thought went into each design. Of course, there are a few that only use them for GTGs but some of them have more than one trailer.

  2. I love looking at those vintage trailers. Thanks.

  3. Cute, cute, cute!!! Thanks so much for sharing these. I find them fascinating. Looks like good weather for this event too!

  4. Great shots of great rigs. Thanks!

    1. Just found out the GGs raised $600 in open house donations for the Wounded Warrior program and the Fisher House (where their families can stay) at Brooks Army Medical Center.

  5. oh my! I so look forward to my first GG trip in July!!! So much awesomeness going on.

  6. What cute trailers! I've never seen such creativity. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the great photos.

    1. There were also a couple of real cute Casitas which were fixed up really nice inside but I didn't include them since they weren't open at the open house. They both had the small side dinette with the dinette at the back made into a bed. Both ladies turned that into a full time bed but cut it down to a single so they could add some extra drawers like you did with yours.

  7. Last year while camping at Camp Sherman in central OR I ran into a group of ladies with RV's that looked very similar to these. They were all part of a group called "Sisters on the Fly". Very creative.

  8. "Sisters on the Fly" is a national group. "Get'away Gals" is a group covering Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. They just had the 1st Annual Grand GTG and already have over 400 members. They plan to cut it off at 500 which will probably be in the next couple of months. Some of the members belong to both groups but they have a slightly different focus.

  9. You did a great job with this "mini tour" on your blog! Thanks for taking the time to put this together!

  10. I love all the cute little trailers! I have a little, old, trailer that needs reconditioning. These pictures make me want to do something special with it.

    1. The little old trailers are very popular with a number of groups. There are so many ways to make them look adorable.

  11. I loved this! What a good cause! My favorite was Betty Boop (painted on the back of Miss Liberty Boop) wearing combat boots! What a fun group they must be! The trailers were restored with so much fun, dedication and humor! I loved them all! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together and taking us along so we could enjoy it too!
