2024-10-24 Halloween Rally Fun

 We had some Halloween fun at this rally too. Anne always has her site decorated and Halloween was no exception.

She actually wore this costume all day even when we went to the Wimberley Glass Works. She left off the high top piece and the wings because it would have been impossible in the car. Check out the full look in the other pictures.

Here she has added the branches to the headpiece and has her wings on. Karol also had a great costume that took some time to put together along with the makeup.

Judy and Susan were a bit scarier with their costumes.

Judy and Lois were all decked out and kind of scary too.

There was no way to tell this was Hilde until she started talking!

Here is the whole group that dressed up. Tina and Lori had folk or square dancing costumes. Mary made her costume right there at the park out of some neat trick or treat bags we got. Her dog toby even made a walk around the park in his cape.

A final view of the outdoor area we had for the rally. Too warm for a fire and we didn't use the TV but it was nic.

2020-10-31 Halloween Fun

Halloween rolls around again. Who knows what it will be like with the pandemic in full swing. It seems like our neighborhood has more events going on now than they have ever had. A lot of people said that they would be taking their kids trick or treating so we bought candy not knowing how much we would need. In the meantime, the grandkids and kids were going to neighbors to hand out candy in their neighborhood. They came over to get a little help with their "costumes". DH is a pretty good artist when he chooses to be. He painted pumpkins for all his favorite motorcycle shops. Now he's painting Cameron.

Cam told him what he wanted and he did his best to accomdate.

Next up, our daughter-in-law Helen. Shhe loves this kind of thing.

Here they are ready to head home and put the rest of the costume on. Boooooo!

Harley sat on the porch with me for a while but got too excited at seeing all the kids. so he came in for a nap. I set up treats on each of the blocks around the flower bed in front so each child could pick up their own treat without touching anything else.

A Spooktacular Night

Helen invited us over for a great dinner on Halloween so we could see the kids costumes before they all left for a Halloween party and Trick or Treating. I did hair for Helen and Morgan and the next thing I know, DH is sitting out in the car waiting to go home because he was afraid we would already be having Trick or Treaters at our house. Thank Heavens Helen got pictures of them all.

So does Morgan. They are growing up way too fast.

They all had a really great time Trick or Treating and spending the evening with friends at their Halloween party.

Halloween at Fiesta Texas

After our trip to the oldest V.F.W. in Texas and dinner at The Luxury, we had another surprise for the grandkids.  We were on our way to Fiesta Texas....Six Flags. The whole month of October is set aside for Halloween.

This couple looked like they didn't want to be disturbed.

There was a crowd but not the kind you would expect.

Steve, Helen, and Cameron headed for some the the big scary rides. Morgan likes to hang with Grandma....we don't care for those kind of rides. Crowds were not too heavy though so after Morgan and I did the bumper cars, the rest of the gang caught up with us and did the bumper cars again....no wait!

This time I sent Morgan off by herself and she and Helen had no trouble keeping up with the guys.

Morgan likes the airplanes that go up and down with you controlling the take-offs and landings.

There were some scary areas set up with zombies. They all headed in ahead of me and I don't think Morgan knew what she was getting into because, after that, we found the zombie free zones. Generally Fiesta Texas is pretty family friendly but I have one real bone to pick with them. They were selling "No Boo" necklaces warning their employees not to approach the wearer. Really....$5 apiece so that young kids don't have someone in their face scaring them. Profiting from not scaring young kids (or anyone for that matter) is just disgusting.

We got Morgan out of that area as quickly as we could. The characters were way too realistic and gory.

Everyone had a ride on the carousel.

Morgan and I had three rides in a row.

The weather was absolutely fantastic, the crowds were pretty small, and other than the zombie run in, everyone had a great time.

Halloween Got My Computer

Actually, it struck before Halloween...the dreaded computer meltdown.  My computer has been on the fritz since the Friday before Halloween.  I've been working on it trying to figure out what happened to it and to breathe life back into it.  I'm lost without it.  I've used my DH's computer to check Facebook once in a while and check my email but his computer is very old, XP, and definitely not what I am used to working on.  Blogger won't work on it.  Feedly won't pull up correctly to read blogs.   And, before you ask why he has such a minimalist computer, you should know that he checks email about once every two or three months....a techy he is not.

So this is just a quick post on my DS's Dell.   And a quick Halloween picture post to hold me over.

A Great Start to Halloween at the Flocking

Halloween morning arrived shrouded in fog but it was warm and the fog soon burned away.  Several more ladies arrived and set up their camps.  Here Birdie, Carolyn, and Karen are busy discussing some RV related equipment and sharing their knowledge on the subject.

Sue (GypsySuzy) arrived and is visiting with Margareta and Susan of What's Up With Susan and Company.  Susan is working at an RV park about an hour away so she came over and spent the day with the group.

Harley thinks that maybe it might be bedtime and if he is well hidden under his blanket, no one will think to put him in his crate for the night.

Dave came out for the Halloween Potluck.  I think he is enjoying a second helping of Karen's cake before bedtime.  Of course he had to make sure the TV was operating properly too.

He was off home in the morning on his motorcycle because a couple of trees were going to be removed in our back yard.

Randolph AFB Air Show - Oct 2011

The Air Show is in town at Randolph AFB.  Since we are an Air Force family, Steve thought it would be great to take the kids.  In addition to the Blue Angel's (I know, Navy instead of the Air Force Thunderbirds but they are good too), there a lot of other air demonstration acts.  One of the acts was the Vietnam era show and it was fantastic.  They dropped smoke bombs and really put on a screaming show.  I got a call from my husband Dave who was working at the Live Oak Civic Center.  Some of the vendors saw the smoke from their parking lot a mile away and wondered if there was a crash.  Nope, just a great show.

There were also lots of static display planes to look at.  I know you can see it.  Steve and the kids are in costume again.  Might as well get mileage while you can.

This plane's civilian pilot was letting some of the kids take a look at the cockpit of his plane.

He asked Morgan to pose and you don't have to ask her twice!  She has all the moves down.

There were also helocopters of various kinds.

This was a medivac helocopter.  Fortunately they were more than satisfied to sit in the back and didn't want to lay on the stretchers.

There were walk-throughs in some of the larger planes.

We did lots of walking across the tarmac.  It doesn't look crowded here but there were lots of people out there.  This was near the opposite end from where the planes were flying.

When the kids came out of this huge plane, the crew was handing out treats to the kids.  What a nice touch.

We stopped to take a little break just off the tarmac behind the booths.  Music was playing so Morgan had to dance.

Cameron is a little more shy but once he gets warmed up........

The Geico Nascar Number 13 was on display and the crew came over and asked the kids to pose with both their trailer and the car.  They said it would be on their website this week.

Of course there was the inevitable midway rides.  Cameron chose a Pirates of the Caribbean inflatable playground.

Morgan chose a bouncing castle.  I think she got a bigger bang for her buck.  They had a euro ball ride where you climbed inside an inflated ball and rolled around in a pool.  $10 bucks per ball, 4 balls in the pool, probably not more than 3 or 4 minutes in the ball.  Lots of money being raked in there.

Cameron decided to relax a bit while we were waiting on the Blue Angels to take to the sky.  Kids and dogs can relax anywhere.

Another fun day was had by all.
