2025-9-20 Santa Fe Railrunner Ride

As I said in the last post, the Farmers Market is right next to the railyard.

Santa Fe has a great commuter systems which includes trains and buses. The depot is right next to the Farmers Market and lots of restaurants, galleries, etc. There are three stops in the metro Santa Fe area and the Rail Runner goes all the way south to Albuquerque. It's $10 one way to Albuquerque or $11 one way. Veterans ride free and prices for seniors are very low with Wednesdays free. The Rail Runner runs daily with trains scheduled regularly. We decided that we wanted a ride.

We drove to a stop about 5 stops from the depot where we could park the car. Getting to the train required going up and over the rail tracks on a walkway high up in the air.....not my favorite part.

The train was spotless with lots of conductors/ security so it was really nice.

We enjoyed the countryside speeding by.

We watched passengers getting on and off at various stops. Yes, they do accommodate bicycles.

This was in the main station at the Depot. We walked around the market a little more and then boarded the next train headed back to the station where we left the car. On the way back we heard couples chatting about how they used a combination of buses and trains to get all over town. They were headed back after visiting the Farmers Market. It was a great ride.

2025-9-20 Rodeo de Santa Fe Camping

Our next stop was Santa Fe N.M. This can be a pretty expensive city to RV in. However, I had an ace up my sleave as I discovered a relatively inexpensive place to park my RV. Now, if you are looking for all the amenities of a fancy RV park you won't find them here. What you get are a spot to park your RV with full hookups. It's located in town in an easy to get to location.

Your neighbors are quiet and considerate.

We were pretty lucky that we were parked on the backside and the breeze usually blew towards the horse pens so we had no odor problems.

We even lucked out and they had a calf roping event on Saturday so free show for us.

All in all, aside from some stickers in the grass, we enjoyed our stay and $35/night sure beats $90/night any day.

2025-9-20 Santa Fe Farmers Market

If you are in Santa Fe, be sure to take a trip to the Farmers Market on Saturday. It's huge and very interesting.

We were lucky enough to find a parking place within an easy walking distance of the market. The first thing was saw and smelled was the roasting of peppers.

Right next door was a covered area with vegetables of every kind. 

As you can see, I was dressed for cooler weather. It was quite cool when we got up but warmed up after we got to the market. Lesson learned, wear a t-shirt underneath so you can take off the pullover.

Elaine is always hot so she started out in a t-shirt.

The Farmers Market is located right near the railyard so it's easy to find. They had so many booths.

I'm not sure how you were supposed to use these gigantic ropes of flowers but they were beautiful.

It's apple season in Santa Fe.

There were other things on sale besides fruit and veggies.

I have no idea why blogger turned these photos on their sides but it would not let me turn them the right way and I thought the flowers were too beautiful to leave ut.

These dinner plat dahlias were just huge and so beautiful.

There were a lot of people taking advantage of the market, most carrying their own bags with them.

Going the other direction from the Farmers Market was an Artists Market.

There were quite a few artists marketing a wide range of crafs.

In the area between the two markets, this group was providing wonderful entertainment on these instruments. They were all different sizes with different sounds.

The man in the top knot was the group leader. Let me tell you, there is a lot of exercised involved in producing this wonderful music.

This lady was smiling the whole time she played and got quite a workout.

One last look at the Market. All the fruit and vegetables were from New Mexico, most from close by counties. I missed getting a good picture of it but there was one booth that had huge bowls of different kinds of lettuce and greens. There was a long line of people with their bags that used large scoops to gather all the different types of lettuce and then get their bag weighed at the end. Now that's how to make a great salad!
