2023-02-11 Salsa, Fajitas, and Fun

Saturday evening is usually the busiest time at a rally and this Saturday was no exception. Vicki and Barbara were our hosts for this rally. They have been hosting at Goliad almost every February since before I became a member. Vicki is ready to get the show on the road.

Barbara and Vicki sort out the food that is arriving.

Everyone comes early for Happy Hour and to catch up with friends. We had several ladies who stayed in hotels to attend and others that drove in for the day.

Preparations were underway for the salsa contest. Bet you thought we were dancing! Marlene was the third host for the event. All three hosts are lined up on the right.

Everyone is invited to try each blind entry salsa and cast their vote.

Recognize these from the Market Day booth?

Taking a group photo is a big deal at every rally. The time is set and if you are not right on time, you won't be in the photo. It's a lot like herding cats.

Everyone say "cheese"!

It's time to announce the salsa winner.

And here she is! Congratulations Ann. You win the chapter trophy which is used for all sorts of events. You must add something to the trophy and return it at the next rally.

Time for dinner. The hosts provided chicken, tortillas, and beans. Everyone else brought sides.

I brought homemade queso and chips. So did several others but it's all good.

There is always an abundance of food. No one goes hungry here.

This might look like the face of a prize winner but it is not.

And the first winner is........

There were several prizes and Marlene won this walking stick taller than she is.

The evening is supposed to end with a presentation of songs, poetry, and stories about cowgirls or women in the old west. When the party got moved out to the campfire, a lot of ladies headed back to their RVs. Jimmie read a poem she had written and I read a short story about mail order brides in the old west before we all called it a night and Teri put out the campfire.
