Celebrations Are In Order

It seems as though our weekends are either pretty quiet or jam packed. Even though they are not always in San Antonio with their Dad on special days, they always want to celebrate with all of us too. So Friday night we celebrated Cameron's 15th birthday a few days late. I know, I know, it hardly seems possible that he is 15 years old already. Lots of changes over the last couple of years but he is still the same sweet kid under all that.  We have a birthday hat!

It goes along with a special birthday plate which we usually save for the celebrants cake.

There was a special 10 year candle plus five one year candles.

This is a very special soccer ball that measure and records your shots in conjunction with your phone.

The next day, we celebrated another special day Thanksgiving. Of course it was several days after the holiday but the turkey was just as good Saturday as it would have been on Thursday.

But it's a special day whenever you celebrate it as long as you can all be together.....that is our philosophy and we are sticking to it.  Hope your holiday was as good as ours! 

Teenager In The House...Cam's Birthday

It's hard to believe but it's true.....our grandson is a teenager. Cameron hit the big 13. So far he hasn't grown any horns and continues to be his same loveable self. This is the family birthday hat in case you were wondering. My DIL found it and it became a tradition.

They took the kids and a friend ice skating in the afternoon. Then we did the traditional family dinner (birthday boy's choice) and then the birthday cake. Helen moves so fast she blurs.

They got a cake with a Capt America and Ironman picture. Cam thought it looked great and it was delicious.

I found out that Cameron has been playing disc golf with his friends so I found a set of discs for different purposes and a special bag for them.

Dad and Helen got tickets for an Indoor Car Racing adventure. Cameron was really excited about that. They went the next day and had a ball driving the miniature race cars....Cameron got to drive the adult cars so he was extra thrilled.

 

This was the second birthday celebration as he already had one up in Brownwood with his mom and friends there. All in all, I think he had a really great birthday.

The Happy 12th!

The birthday boy is 12. After an exciting day of ice skating, everyone grouped back up at our house where Steve grilled steaks (steak and rice is Cameron's favorite food). Helen fixed vegetables and I contributed a salad.

Ever need to wrap a really big package? A tablecloth from Dollar Tree makes it real easy to do and looks good too.

I think Steve and Helen scored a highly successful gift.

Somehow I missed getting a picture of the big box opening but you'll see it in pictures coming up. It was a hit too. Birthday cake up next.

The next morning we headed over to Steve and caught the two "boys" outside flying the drone.

Then Steve set to work putting the air hockey table that was in the big birthday box together.

How Time Flies

Wow, how time flies.  I can't believe that it has been so long since I wrote a blog post. The day sometimes seems to drag by slowly and then, in an instant, the week has flown away.

Since my last post, we've celebrated a birthday, no, not mine. We celebrated a few days early since the grandkids were here in San Antonio for the weekend. It was the big 11 for Cam. Steve grilled up some great steaks for dinner....Cam's favorite meal and his Dad does them up like a pro.

 

Then we did "presents".

And the big finale was a movie. Everyone, including Cameron, had a great time but then he is very easy to please. I couldn't ask for a better grandson.

Then we moved on to Thanksgiving. The grandkids were with their Mom this year and my son and daughter-in-law flew to Maryland to spend the holiday with Helen's mom. Have to share you know. "My Buddy Angus" stayed with us for the week....always an interesting experience. Angus is Willy's best buddy, Gretchen is willing to share a lap, and Harley is trying to be open-minded. He definitely likes Angus's toys

We shared Thanksgiving Day with our long time friends Bob and Loretta and their family. Bob and Loretta are the "family you get to choose". Those of you who have been in the military will easily understand this as you are often far away from your own family. RVers often find themselves in similar situations and those friends tend to last a lifetime.

We had turkey with all the trimmings and enough food for an army. Sorry, no pictures, but believe me....it could have been a restaurant buffet. It was a wonderful day. Thanks again for good friends.

The Birthday Boy Celebrates His 10th

Cameron's birthday was actually over a week ago.  He spent that weekend with his Dad but Grandma was out of town at an RV GTG.  So Cameron, Morgan, Dad, and Helen went ice skating to celebrate but planned another party for when all of his San Antonio family could be there.  So we all got together on Wednesday night for a special dinner (steak and rice.....Cam's favorites).  Cam wanted vanilla cake with vanilla icing which caused some raised eyebrows and questions from several asking if he was sure he didn't want chocolate.  One of the benefits of growing older is more experience. I decided to go with a pyramid of cupcakes so Cam could have his choice and others could have their chocolate. Morgan wanted strawberry last year, everybody ate a little piece including Morgan, and the rest of the cake sat there.  It was good but not what everyone liked.......so, this time....two kinds of cupcakes.

He thought it was really cool.

Those colored sugar cake toppings sure do leave kids with blue tongues and lips.

I think we scored with this present.  Some battling tops for his collection.

He also got two more books from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid collection.  He loves them.

The biggest hit was probably the Iron Man Mask.

Harley was not sure what happened to his boy.  I think it was the glowing eyes.

Cameron's Birthday

My grandson's birthday was last week but he was home in Brownwood so we had another birthday party here.  Steve and Helen took Cameron and Morgan ice skating as a birthday surprise.  Cameron was born on the east coast where it gets cold but didn't live there long and Morgan has never been where it is really cold so ice skating was a novelty.  Helen grew up near Baltimore so she has lots of skating experience.  I'm not really sure where Steve learned to skate as he has lived where it is warm most of his life too but he definitely knows how to skate.  I think he's just a natural athlete.  And Cameron is just like his Daddy.

Morgan, however, is more like her grandmother.  Sometimes we are just coordination challenged.  But she was game to try and had a good time too.

I made spaghetti carabonara for dinner and we had a chocolate birthday cake.  I think it was a good birthday for an 8 year old.

It was a fun day and now on to Thanksgiving.
