2024-7/8 July-August Happenings

 Steve and Helen were off to Canada for June and July. They enjoyed a bit of camping going and coming. Morgan had her first tasted of living alone. She ate lots of meals with us and called very frequently to go someplace. too many games of Monopoly were played as grandpa thinks it's the only game worth playing and he is cutthroat.

Helen had a birthday while they werre gone so we celebrated when they came home.

No RV trip in July. On to August and a trip to Ruidoso NM.

The Birthday Boys

July was birthday month around here. First the country's birthday on the 4th and then Dave's birthday right after. There wasn't enough room on the cake for 69 candles so we just did the best we could. lol

I think he was counting them here.

But he had no trouble blowing them out.

Or with opening his presents.

 

 

Next up was Harley on the 8th of July.

All the fur kids were interested in that cake.

They each got a doggie bone to celebrate. Now you may not celebrate your pets birthdays with cake and ice cream but we have grandkids and they like to celebrate birthdays so we always wait until they are here with us for the "party".

Harley is now 8 years old.

 

We did manage a trip out to the lake for a few days before the grandkids had to head back to Brownwood. It was 100 degrees every day but there is a nice cool pool so they had fun anyway.

 

All Children at Heart

Tuesday we headed to New Braunfels to the McKenna Children's Museum. The kids have been to the Children's Museum in San Antonio and had a great time. Helen is great at finding Groupons to various places which save quite a bit on entrance fees.

The Children's Museum is quite a bit smaller than the one in San Antonio and, at first, we were a little concerned that the set up seemed designed for children younger than Cam and Morgan who are 11 and 8. I would definitely recommend it for children under 8 but the grandkids still had a great time. Morgan has a doctor's coat on taking care of her "patient".....

The resident artist's room was a big hit with easels, smocks, and paint.

Morgan did this picture and presented it to us.

It takes concentration to be a great artist.

After the museum visit, we all headed back to Grandpa and Grandma's house for dinner and.......
another birthday party. Harley is now 6 years old and, no, he didn't have any of his chocolate cake before anyone gets worried.

Harley and the rest of the furkids guests all had several doggy treats of chicken jerky.....a favorite!

Harley's Big Day

The youngest furkid is now 5 years old.  What's a birthday without cake and party guests?

What do you mean......I have to blow out the candles.....and then all I get is one of the doggy bones from the top of the cake......and no cake?????   What about ice cream?????   It's not chocolate.

Happy Birthday Harley.  Harley is 5 and Willy and Gretchen are 10.
